InterContinental properties in greater China will soon receive “smart rooms” to usher in the next era of “intelligent hospitality.”
InterContinental Hotels Group partnered with Baidu, a Chinese internet technology company, to bring about the intelligent hotel rooms. The technology will allow InterContinental to refine the customer experience, IHG says.
The smart rooms will be fully controllable by voice to create a more streamlined connection between human and computer. The transition will also make hotel management simpler.
“IHG has always been at the forefront of innovation. We are thrilled to be pioneering in the hospitality industry, and exploring the various possibilities of future experience with our guests. Millennials are particularly sensitive to technology, often seeking new things to try. The AI Smart Room will undoubtedly be extremely attractive for them, paving the way for a new level of modernisation and consumer satisfaction,” said Ling Wang, vice president of marketing, IHG Greater China.
The rooms are first set to come to InterContinental Beijing Sanlitun and InterContinental Guangzhou Exhibition Centre. Before the end of 2018, more than 100 artificial intelligence-enabled suites will be available at hotels in greater China.
