The New Year will see big changes for hotel giant Hyatt and its loyalty members. On March 1, Hyatt will introduce World of Hyatt, a new loyalty program to replace Hyatt Gold Passport.
The new program will entail a complete overhaul of elite statuses and benefits. Instead of qualifying for elite status by nights or stays, members will qualify by nights or points earned by dollars spent. To qualify for the top tier, Globalist, members are required to stay a minimum of 60 nights or earn 100,000 points.
The Chase Hyatt Credit Card will no longer offer credit toward status, making top-tier Hyatt elite status more difficult to obtain. While the new program will make it more difficult to achieve top elite status, some great perks come with the Globalist status, including no resort fees; complimentary, unlimited suite upgrades on stays; four confirmed suite upgrades; free parking on free night stays; and two complimentary United Club passes annually.
The program changes are making many reconsider their loyalty, and it is possible the coming months will see a large shift toward Hilton HHonors or Starwood/Marriott. Visit the website to learn more about how the changes will impact your membership status.
