OpenTable’s “Top 100 Hot Spot Restaurants in America” list includes three new states not represented last year: Iowa, Arizona and Indiana. Almost half of the restaurants (43) on the list opened in the past year, including New York City’s acclaimed Dirty French, while the oldest restaurant on the list, The Nest in Indian Wells, Calif., has been welcoming diners since 1965. According to Forbes, notable restaurants include Bobby Flay’s Gato in New York, RPM Steak in Chicago and Spoon and Stable in Minneapolis. The list is based on more than 5 million reviews submitted by verified diners on OpenTable between March 1, 2014, and Feb. 28, 2015, of more than 20,000 restaurants across the country. California has the greatest number of winning restaurants this year with 22, followed by New York and Florida, both with 13. Illinois and Texas round out the top five, with 11 and seven hot spots, respectively.
