Last week, Hotel Belmar won the Silver Award at the Latin America Responsible Tourism Awards. The hotel’s role in the region’s green development has transformed the remote area into a thriving collection of eco-tourism enterprises and initiatives. Hotel Belmar not only seeks to educate visitors but also strives to inspire the next generation of caretakers of the world’s ecosystems.
At the property’s on-site garden, guests learn about low-impact farming and cooking methods, as well as how harvesting and using fresh ingredients elevates the dishes served at the hotel’s restaurants. Hotel Belmar also created Finca Madre Tierra, the country’s first carbon-neutral farm, to allow guests to enjoy a real Costa Rican farm experience and learn about sustainable agriculture while picking coffee beans and grinding sugar cane.

One of the first microbreweries in the country, Cervecería Belmar Tap Room & Beer Garden serves Cervezas Artesanales Belmar and other artisanal ale brewed on-site. The emphasis on local goods and services also transfers to the hotel’s artist residency initiative. Hotel Belmar offers four opportunities per year for artists to stay at the hotel for up to three weeks. Artists passionate about nature and the rainforest can further connect with their surroundings at the property.
The newest addition to Hotel Belmar, SAVIA private reserve offers thrilling eco-adventures such as hiking, walking on a hanging bridge, rope climbing and bird watching above the forest canopy. With the cloud forest serving as the center of every experience and purpose at Belmar, guests can choose from a wide variety of other experiences, including a private treetop picnic and a garden-to-glass cocktail class.

Mendocino Coast’s first vacation destination, established in 1968, is an ideal 16-room gateway to the destination.

Mar 22, 2023Pendry Washington DC – The Wharf Review
Among the handful of hotels in the area, Pendry Washington DC – The Wharf is the newest. I was excited to check in for a little staycation — and even more excited when I checked into my room just in time to see the sun set over the boats docked in the Potomac River.
