Mad for mod? Feed your obsession in Palm Springs, California, during Modernism Week 2024, taking place Feb. 15–25. During this 11-day festival, a host of events celebrates the cultural shift that took place during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, incorporating tenets defined as individualism, experimentation, symbolism, absurdity and formalism — poignantly manifested in architecture and design.
This year, the blend of live music sessions, bus tours, seminars, lectures and fabulous cocktail parties kicks off with the Disco in the Desert opening night party at 7 p.m. on Feb. 15. Among other happenings to look forward to are Route 66: A Musical and Culinary Journey Across America; Beatles & Beyond: Mod Music and Cocktail Party; and performances by Veronica Swift, jazz cellist Kyle Marshall, the Taj Mahal Quartet with Sona Jobarteh, and Herb Alpert and Lani Hall Live at the Annenberg.
Opportunities to explore some of Palm Springs most sensational Mid-Century Modern locations will be available with Modernism Week and PS Architecture Tours, led by professional guides.
