Luxury resort complex Grande Lakes Orlando announced the newest addition to the Grande Lakes Sports hub: falconry.
Guests of The Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott Orlando will be able to access the falconry at the resort’s sports hub. With the new offering, guests can get closer than ever to the age-old tradition of hunting with a trained raptor.
The falconry is debuting with two distinct offerings:
The Falconry School acts as a basic introduction to falconry. This course includes an education of the sport, including rules and regulations, training, an overview of traditional and contemporary equipment, species identification, historical context and more. Participants are able to hold the birds for photos at the end of each session.
The falconry’s second activity, Walk with a Hawk, includes a basic introduction to falconry and engagement with the animals. Birds follow guests and fly down when called.
“We’re thrilled to take our Grande Lakes Sports hub to the next echelon of guest experiences through the addition of Falconry,” said Jon McGavin, general manager, Grande Lakes Orlando. “Falconry has a storied history, and our vast landscape lends itself perfectly to its storytelling through engaging and immersive offerings.”
Falconry is the fifth addition to Grande Lakes Sports. Other offerings include eco-tours, sunrise safari, fishing and mountain biking.
