The Goto Islands are beloved for their natural beauty and peaceful beaches. Travelers in search of a glamping adventure can now add the islands to their destination list, thanks to a new collaboration between Japanese hotelier Fujita Kanko, Inc., and Danish outdoor equipment manufacturer Nordisk (and Japanese subsidiary Nordisk Japan).
In 2017, Nordisk opened its first Nordisk Village near Venice, Italy. The Goto Islands location will be the second village, constructed on the site of a former wooden elementary school. The campsites incorporate the old school as a café and restaurant with a check-in area and a few accommodations. Ten Nordisk tents situated around the grounds are each fitted with two to four beds and a communal kitchen shared by guests. An August opening is planned.
