The Denver Art Museum sparkles with the exclusive, worldwide exhibition of Brilliant: Cartier in the 20th Century (through March 15, 2015). A joint effort between DAM and Visit Denver, the exhibition showcases spectacular timepieces, precious objects and jewelry created between 1900 and 1975 from the Cartier Collection, museums and private collections.
The exhibit features seven separately themed sections including Masculine View, dedicated to Cartier’s creations for men; Art of Smoking, harking to the days when smoking and having an elegant cigarette case became a fashion statement for women; and Icons of Style, devoted to famous Cartier clients including Princess Grace of Monaco and Dame Elizabeth Taylor.
In addition, an entire installation — created by Parisian exhibition designer Nathalie Crinière — includes film footage, original drawings, historic photographs, movie stills and advertising materials that have become part of the Cartier legacy. BrilliantDenver.com is available to help organize receptions, corporate parties, special events and hotel stays in 11 downtown properties, with VIP ticketing to the exhibition.

May 8, 2024The Peninsula Bangkok Resort Review
Bangkok is one of the world’s most exciting cities, and we — me and my wife — have front-row seats. From the wood-paneled living room of our 16th-floor deluxe suite in The Peninsula, we look out on a panoramic sweep of the Chao Phraya River, one of the city’s most important routes. Day and night the river jostles with ferries, cruise boats, barges, speedboats and distinctive long-tail boats. We view it all in air-conditioned comfort.

May 6, 2024Explore Portugal on a Wine Tasting Tour with a Touch of History
All it takes is one glance at the grounds of Quinta Dona Maria, which includes a grand villa and surrounding gardens, to realize wine tasting in Portugal comes with a good dose of history. The vineyard is located in Estremoz, just northeast of the first-century Roman ruins found in Evora. In 1718 King João V built this estate for his lover, Dona Maria. When she died, the current owner’s ancestors purchased the land and have been making wine ever since. Taste the wine, which is terrific, especially the full-bodied red Dona Maria Grand Reserve. Then venture inside a building that stores large amphora vases, including one dating back to the 1200s.
