The Brando opened its doors to guests this month on French Polynesia’s private atoll of Tetiaroa, composed of a dozen islets surrounding a lagoon 30 miles north of Tahiti. Inspired by actor Marlon Brando’s original vision to develop a venture of sustainable development in French Polynesia, the all-inclusive resort focuses on offering sustainable technology with seawater air-conditioning and renewable energies. Accommodations include 35 deluxe villas, each boasting its own private beach area and plunge pool. Dining venues include two restaurants serving Polynesian-inspired dishes and classic French cuisine, a café with indoor and beach dining and two bars. The Brando’s Varua Polynesian Spa offers holistic treatments inspired by ancient Polynesian traditions and includes private massage and treatment villas, steam baths, a tea and relaxation lounge, a yoga shelter and a special spa suite for couples high up in palm trees. Recreational activities include snorkeling, paddle boarding, kayaking, Polynesian canoeing, scuba diving, tennis, biking, swimming and guided tours. Additional amenities include a library, an organic garden, a pearl shop and on-site research scientists.
