The historic Dearborn Inn reopened its doors March 19, now part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, following an extensive renovation and restoration of the nearly 100-year-old property.
“Since 1931, the Dearborn Inn has been a significant piece of Dearborn’s history, and an important place for my family and the Ford community. I could not be happier that the Inn is reopening in service of Ford employees, and our broader community,” said Bill Ford, executive chair, Ford Motor Company. “But even more important than its past, the Dearborn Inn is part of Ford’s broader commitment to building for the future. I am thrilled to include the Dearborn Inn on the growing list of buildings across Ford and the community that we are restoring, which will be critical to our long-term success.”

Dearborn Inn was originally built by Henry Ford and designed by Albert Kahn. Today, the 135-key hotel has been meticulously restored using Ford Land’s design and Ford Motor Company’s archival team, as well as the Ford family and other partners. Built across from what was once Ford Airport, Dearborn Inn, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, was one of the country’s first airport hotels.
“From the moment guests step through our doors, we want them to feel inspired by the history that surrounds them and by the trailblazers who once walked these halls,” said Joleisha Bradley, general manager, Dearborn Inn. “The hotel is both a welcoming retreat and living museum, with historic artifacts woven throughout the property. We look forward to continuing the tradition of hospitality that has made Dearborn Inn so beloved.”
Artifacts from the Ford Archives can be found throughout the hotel, and guests will want to memorialize their stay by taking a vintage-style “passport” photo inside a customized photo booth. Guestrooms combine elegance with comfort, with other thoughtful in-room details throughout.

At signature restaurant Clara’s Table, a tribute to Clara Ford, Executive Chef Elliot Patti crafted a menu of offerings similar to what Clara offered guests at her home. Cocktail bar and lounge Four Vagabonds is so named for Henry Ford, Thomas Edison, John Burroughs and Harvey Firestone, and the road trips they would take together. A private dining room features a mural from Detroit artist Ryan Herberholz.
Later in 2025, Dearborn Inn will unveil five colonial-style homes with 18 additional guestrooms and indoor and outdoor event space.

Apr 16, 2025Grand Hotel Des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz Review
Switzerland’s most storied ski town (the one, in fact, credited with pioneering the very concept of Alpine tourism), St. Moritz legendarily attracts the rich, the famous, celebutantes and the wannabes. Yet, there’s something compellingly earthy about the place, a town on a lake rich with natural environs, where winter sports and summer activities draw athletes and mountain lovers aplenty. As at the mountain restaurants (where some arrive by chairlift rather than muscle movement, and all types of diners and imbibers convene), Grand Hotel des Bains Kempinski St. Moritz straddles the old and new, the lavish and the understated. The hotel, one of St. Moritz’s oldest, opened as a spa haven in 1864, set atop a healing mineral spring.

I was illiterate when I first visited Hong Kong. Aged 17, I couldn’t understand a word of the Chinese neon signs. But 40 years later, I have changed, Hong Kong has changed, and my ability to understand the signs has changed. Now I point my phone at the unintelligible script, open a translation app, and everything magically morphs into English. The exotic becomes mundane: Shoe Store. Office Supplies. Laundry. Dentist. Insurance Broker.
