It’s a feast and a fest in Santa Barbara, Calif. when the 28th Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival and Restaurant Week overlap. A favorite Hollywood location dating back to the era of silent film, this year’s event (Jan. 30–Feb. 9) will be held at Santa Barbara’s historic theaters. Throughout the festival, participating restaurants, wine-tasting rooms and area hotels will showcase Made in Santa Barbara-themed tasting menus. Altogether, 36 fixed-price menus and tasting flights will be on offer, ranging from William Baldwin’s Backdraft Fire Menu at Nardonne’s La Famiglia Pizzeria and Wine for the Confused at Grassini Family Vineyards, to Film Noir and Pinot Noir at Conway Deep Sea Tasting Room.
Wondering where to stay? Hotel partners include Secret Garden Inn & Cottages, Hotel Santa Barbara, Hotel Indigo, Cheshire Cat Inn, The Upham Hotel & Country House and The Fess Parker. There’s also the Spanish-styled splendor of Bacara Resort & Spa, offering a presidential suite stay that includes a private screening of The Butler in the resort’s screening room and a reception for up to 200 guests. Among the honorees at this year’s festival are Emma Thompson, Robert Redford, Jared Leto, Oprah Winfrey, Cate Blanchett and Forest Whitaker.
