Switzerland looks particularly stunning draped in snow. If your winter travel plans bring you in that direction, here are a few upcoming events worth checking out:

Celebrated Dec. 22–March 2, 2019, the 50th Annual Music & Snow Festival will play out in Les Diablerets with eight different concerts and a varied musical program that ranges from trios and quartets to piano and cello performances.

On this year’s schedule: the Quintette a Cordes Bartholdy performing a program of Johannes Brahms and Anton Bruckner; and the Quatuor Modigliani presenting Joseph Haydn and Claude Debussy.

Also taking place at Château-d’Oex, the Rallye du Gout is a 3K moonlight trek that’s really a celebration of local food producers, Feb. 23. During the snowy hike along the Sarine, illuminated by lantern and moonlight, participants can sample and stock up on regional products that include honey, organic herbal teas, cheeses, syrups and cold, cured meats. Along the way, there are 10 different food stands where guests can chat with the food artisans themselves.

If you’re still feeling peckish at the conclusion of the circuit, a local soup specialty called soupe de chalet will be served, along with a variety of handmade desserts. Reservations are required, but snowshoes will be provided free of charge.

Phnom Penh as we imagined it stretches beneath us: a picturesque, low-rise mix of Southeast Asian and French Colonial styles. When the inhabitants of those buildings look back at us here in the Fairfield by Marriott hotel in Chip Mong Tower, they see the future.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
