Exeter Airport in the United Kingdom was named the world’s happiest, according to a customer feedback survey by HappyOrNot.
The website tallied results from 158 data points at 160 airports across 36 countries. Happiness scores were collected by allowing customers to touch dark green or light green “happy” buttons for each airport.
Exeter came in first place with a score of 88.66 percent happiness, followed by Cork (ORK) and Rome (FCO), with 88.45 percent. Next came Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (87.35 percent), Newcastle Airport (87.05 percent), London Southend Airport (86.79 percent), Cardiff Airport (86.57 percent) and Iceland’s Keflavík International Airport (86.35 percent).
More than 120,000 responses were collected November 2016–2017, offering feedback on several points of experience including check-in, security, washroom, arrivals and more.
“The HappyOrNot units around the airport have proven to be a very effective and simple way to evaluate passengers’ experiences,” said Matt Roach, managing director, Exeter Airport.
“We know that the procedures at an airport can be stressful, but our staff do their best to ease the journey for the travelers and this shows in the consistently high positive ratings. I am very proud of the performance reflected in the responses, and the magnificent achievement of being in the top spot.”
