EVA Air recently ordered five more Boeing 787-9s, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2025 and complete in 2027. Additionally, beginning in mid-2024, EVA will update and reconfigure its 787-9s to add its popular premium economy class to the current Royal Laurel and economy options currently available on the aircraft.
“We will put our new Boeing 787-9s to work on long-haul routes to Europe and North America. We are introducing Premium Economy on these aircraft to meet growing operational needs and make our flights even more attractive to passengers,” said Clay Sun, president, EVA Air. “We will continue to offer two cabin choices on our Boeing 787-10s and use them for flights within Asia and to Oceania.”
The newest 787 order brings the number of Dreamliners in its fleet to 26, with 13 787-9s and 13 787-10s. Previous orders scheduled to be delivered before 2025 include an additional four 787-9s, seven 787-10s and one Boeing 777F. Using the Dreamliners with advanced GEnx engines, EVA decreases its fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions by 25 percent. The high-fuel efficiencies combined with the aircraft’s range capabilities allow EVA to continue enhancing operational performance and passenger services.
