Ethiopian Airlines announced the expansion of its fleet with the delivery of a Boeing 777-300ER jet. The new aircraft will provide increased capacity on key routes from the airline’s hub in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa (ADD). The jet features seating for approximately 400 passengers in a two-class configuration and complements the carrier’s existing fleet of six Boeing 777-200LR planes. “Ethiopian’s B777-300 ER will give our passengers the best possible travel experience with its spacious cabin interior, high ceiling, advanced in-flight entertainment system, increased stowage capability and additional cargo uplift flexibility,” said Mesfin Tassew, COO of Ethiopian Airlines. It will be deployed on long-haul service to popular cities in the United States and China, such as Guangzhou (CAN) and Washington (IAD). The carrier currently provides service to 76 destinations across five continents with a fleet of approximately 50 Boeing jets. It will welcome an additional three 777-300ERs in the future in order to launch new routes and offer more options on existing service across Africa.
