Ethiopian Airlines added a daily non-stop between Brussels (BRU) and Addis Ababa (ADD). The carrier previously made stopovers in Vienna (VIE) three days a week, increasing the journey time from seven hours to nine.
The new daily service will leave Brussels at 9:30 p.m., and land in the Ethiopian capital at 6:30 a.m., while the return departs at 12:45 a.m. and lands at 6:15 a.m. The route is flown with a mix of Boeing 787s and 777s. Ethiopian is the only airline with non-stop flights between the capitals.
Ethiopian Airlines has connections in more than 50 destinations around Africa, as well as seven domestic airports. The airline is now the largest, and one of the most profitable, on the continent. The airline encourages layovers in Addis Ababa by allowing passengers to extend their layover for free.
Addis Ababa Bole International airport recently opened a second $363 million terminal, which more than doubles the airport’s capacity to 22 million annual passengers.
