Emirates will revamp the business- and first-class lounge on its Airbus A380 superjumbo planes. The updates were unveiled at ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, March 8–12.

Emirates’ president Sir Tim Clark said, “In our latest revamp, we have taken inspiration from private yacht cabins, and amongst other thoughtful touches, we have increased the seating space, and also made it more intimate and conducive for our passengers to socialize or enjoy our lounge service.”

The design will retain the original horseshoe shape, but will offer more seating along the windows, with each area consisting of a table and a window view. The carrier says the revamped lounge “can comfortably accommodate up to 26 passengers at a time, including eight seated.”

Other features will include lighter champagne colors and glossy dark wood trim; sound-proof curtains to partition the lounge from the rest of the plane; soft ambient lighting options; new window blinds with LED mood lighting; better sound systems; and a 55-inch LCD screen with the latest flight information or television shows.

The new lounge is currently being installed on the first A380 aircraft, and will debut in July.
