On Nov. 3, a rare astrological event occurs, with a total eclipse of the sun accompanied by a splash of sudden color as the sun’s chromosphere becomes briefly visible with the moon’s shadow. To view it, you’ll need a plane ticket — the eclipse passes over Gabon in Western Africa, and its transit will be seen from Equatorial Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia.
East African-based Premier Safaris is marking the occasion with a four-day Solar Eclipse Safari in Pakwach, Northern Uganda. After a three-night stay at Paraa Safari Lodge, an itinerary of game drives and a Nile cruise to Murchison Falls, ground transportation will deliver guests to Owiny Primary School in Pakwach to await the eclipse. Later, there’s dinner at the lodge and an overnight stay (for pricing details, contact Premier Safaris). You can have the sun and the moon, but limited space is available.
