Disney theme parks pride themselves on offering fun “for all ages,” but visitors past a certain age may find the parks loud, crowded and full of screaming children — not always the optimal idea of fun. In an effort to make the parks more enjoyable for visitors 21 and older, Disney parks introduced a bevy of alcohol-serving venues that bring happy hour to the “Happiest Place on Earth.”
Since 2012, Walt Disney World has served alcohol at more than 110 establishments within the parks, catering to the nearly 38 percent of adults visiting the parks without children in tow. Several months, sometimes even years, of researching and planning can go into developing a new specialty drinks menu for Disney restaurants, including Sangria Hour at the upcoming Jaleo restaurant, run by celebrity chef José Andrés, or Wine Bar George in Disney Springs.
Beyond simply serving alcohol in the park’s restaurants, Walt Disney World also hosts alcohol-themed events such as Drinking Around the World, a challenge to drink at all 11 countries in Epcot, or the Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.
