Frommer’s recently released its list of 20 places to visit in 2020, compiled by travel journalists. Cities making the cut include Tokyo, Dubai, Bonn, Bahamas, Papua New Guinea, Greenland, The Poles and Buenos Aires.

Buenos Aires has crept up a lot lately on trending destinations for 2020, and the publication attributes that to the city’s diverse, colorful and historic neighborhoods, including Villa Crespo. This trendy neighborhood hosts a booming Jewish community and wealth of local and international artists.

Leading most trends into 2020, the city’s culinary scene is also on the rise, and has been for quite a while. There is, of course, Argentine barbecues, but also far more cuisine to indulge in, like traditional flatbread, empanadas, Malbec wine, mate, dulce de leche ice cream, alfajores, choripan, asado and much more.

“An increasing number of international visitors are seeking to live as if they were residents, which is influencing the city’s tourism to expand to new neighborhoods. This trend is excellent news for the city’s neighborhoods given that tourism stimulates the economy and generates jobs,” said Fernando Straface, secretary general and secretary of foreign affairs, City of Buenos Aires.
