Delta Air Lines announced a crossover program offering special free upgrades for top-tier Starwood and Marriott elite members. Starwood Preferred Guests and Marriott Rewards Platinum members can now receive complimentary Comfort Plus upgrades, first-class upgrades when available, priority check-in and a free checked bag. No direct elite status on Delta is required to earn the upgrades.
As part of the upgrade offer, a mid- or top-tier member of United’s MileagePlus program can sign up with the Marriott crossover program to earn mid-term Gold status with Marriott. That status then translates to Gold Starwood member status, which offers benefits with Delta SkyMiles.
