New Yorkers with designs on partying hard in Rio de Janeiro will soon have an easier time reaching the Brazilian city, thanks to a new route from Delta Air Lines.
Starting Dec. 21, Delta will fly daily, non-stop flights between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and Rio de Janeiro. The route is still subject to approval from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
The route will use a Boeing 767-300 aircraft with 35 Delta One full lie-flat seats, 32 Delta Comfort+ seats and 143 seats in the Main Cabin. Amenities include oversized personal entertainment screens, an expanded on-demand in-flight entertainment system, Latin-inspired food options and expanded WiFi service.
“We listen to our customers and continuously strive to offer them increasingly convenient ways to travel, both for business and leisure” Luciano Macagno, Brazil director, Delta Air Lines, said in a statement. “It is exciting to have the opportunity to offer a daily direct flight from Rio de Janeiro to our second-largest international hub at New York-JFK. Delta’s continued route expansions demonstrate our commitment to the Brazilian market and the strength of our alliance with our Brazilian partner, GOL.”
