The congested area surrounding New York’s major airports doesn’t seem like a spot in need of further development, but last week Delta Air Lines proved otherwise when it opened its new concourse at LaGuardia (LGA).

Early last week, the new 105,000-square-foot concourse opened for customers; it will eventually function as Delta’s Terminal C. The development is part of a greater $8 billion renovation changing the face of the airport for the future.

Once the new terminal is complete, it will have 37 gates across four concourses. A new, bigger Delta Sky Club with a Sky Deck is also planned.

“Thanks to the commitment and hard work of the Delta team and our many partners, today marks the beginning of a new era for millions of Delta customers at LaGuardia. The excitement that is building here is palpable and contagious, and we are already looking ahead to many more milestones to come,” said Ed Bastian, CEO, Delta Air Lines.

The construction marks a new milestone in the complete reconstruction of LaGuardia. Passengers can find a world-class passenger experience, modern amenities, new architecture and a connected terminal system. As it stands, guests see a 3-D Delta supergraphic and floor-to-ceiling views of Citi Field and Flushing Bay.

New dining options, new gates with more seating and plentiful outlets greet passengers in the new concourse. Digital wayfinding signs and hearing loop technology assist guests in navigation.

Delta operates more than 275 departures during peak times from its LaGuardia hub. The airline started its $4 billion portion of the renovation in 2017.
