A big change is coming for LATAM Airlines Group and Delta Air Lines passengers feel in April, when a new loyalty reciprocation partnership between the two airlines goes into effect.

Last September, LATAM announced it was beginning the process of leaving the oneworld alliance with the intention to enter into a massive partnership with Delta Air Lines. LATAM will officially withdraw from the alliance in May, but loyalty accumulation with the American carrier begins in April.

According to announcements from both Delta and LATAM on this partnership, reciprocal frequent-flyer benefits begin April 1. Once the partnership goes into effect, LATAM Pass members will be able to accrue mileage on Delta Air Lines flights. Similarly, Delta SkyMiles members will be able to accrue miles on LATAM flights throughout its network, including destinations in Latin America.

“With this frequent flyer agreement and codeshares, LATAM and its affiliates can now offer customers some of the first tangible benefits that the framework agreement with Delta promises to deliver,” said Roberto Alvo, CCO, LATAM Airlines Group. “Today, customers can already take advantage of industry leading connectivity between North and South America, as we continue to advance on our path to creating the best passenger experience and route network on the continent.”

Beginning today, LATAM customers can purchase flights covered by the Delta–LATAM Airlines Peru and LATAM Airlines Ecuador codeshare agreements for flights commencing in March. Delta also recently signed a codeshare agreement with LATAM Airlines Brazil, which will allow further connectivity and will go into effect later this year.

Amansara Review

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
