Animals taking to the sky are getting a more comfortable journey thanks to a new innovation from Delta Air Lines.

The new CarePod, a state-of-the-art pet travel carrier developed through five years of research and a two-month trial period, will roll out at eight U.S. airports to start. Following the initial rollout, the carrier will be introduced across Delta’s entire fleet.

The CarePod allows for real-time updates throughout the journey and gives pets a new level of safety and comfort during flight.

Some of the new features include heavily insulated walls to protect pets from fluctuating temperatures, multilayered windows and doors which prevent stress, a built-in hydration system, GPS tracking, connectivity so travelers can keep an eye on Fido, and human-level and nontoxic construction.

The CarePods can accommodate animals that need to be transported in 300-series crates or smaller, and are bookable 3–13 days in advance.
