Travel through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will be easier for Delta Air Lines customers enrolled in TSA PreCheck starting next month with the expansion of new facial recognition capabilities and the opening of the first-ever Delta-TSA PreCheck express lobby and bag drop.
“We want to give our customers more time to enjoy travel by unlocking simplified, seamless and efficient experiences from end to end,” said Byron Merritt, vice president of brand experience design, Delta. “Delta has been a leader in testing and implementing facial recognition technology since 2018 as part of our vision for building airports that are effortless. The launch of Atlanta’s express lobby and bag drop is the latest step in our commitment to listening and innovating for our customers.”
Customers with the Fly Delta app and TSA PreCheck membership will be able to visit a new dedicated bag drop lobby, pass through a security checkpoint and board the plane using only their “digital identity” — customers can travel from curb to gate hands- and device-free. Delta is the first and only airline to build a dedicated bag drop space for TSA PreCheck customers. The digital identity is made up of a customer’s SkyMiles Member number, passport number and Known Traveler Number.

It was more than a car journey; it was a transition between worlds. At our first hotel in Siem Reap, huge coaches constantly pulled up outside the lobby to deposit or receive international tour groups; we departed in very different style, in a 1965 black Mercedes limousine once owned by King Sihanouk. The mundanities of mass tourism were left behind. We progressed through the chaotic Cambodian streets in regal comfort and soon arrived at a solid gate.
