When Cunard’s HMS Queen Victoria leaves port from Southampton on May 3, 2015 for a seven-day round-trip cruise, it will be 100 years since the Lusitania was struck, and subsequently sunk, by a torpedo launched from a German submarine. The Queen Victoria will be carrying a special exhibition of memorabilia and objects recovered from the ill-fated Lusitania, curated by author and historian Eric Sauder, an expert on the Lusitania and the May 7, 1915 sinking.

Attacked while en route from New York to Liverpool, the Lusitania was, at that time, Cunard’s flagship ocean liner. Sauder’s research has included numerous expeditions to the wreck site. The onboard exhibition will feature pieces of the ship’s cutlery and china, supplemented by original newspaper articles, postcards, brochures and posters.
