The Swiss mountain town of Crans-Montana promises plenty of scenic backdrops for summer events, including Blues@The Lake Moubra from Aug. 12–13. The popular two-day mini-festival includes a program of jazz and rock music, with free admission to events. On Aug. 7, soprano Sonya Yoncheva will be featured in an evening performance at the Chapelle St-Christophe from 8:30–11 p.m. On Aug. 13, violinist Shlomo Mintz will play with the Virtuosos of Kiev at Le Régent Congress Center, under the direction of Dmitry Yablonsky. On Aug. 15, the legendary Silk Road is the theme for a concert of western and traditional Asian music presented by the Novin Afrouz Quintet at the Hotel Royal. Until Oct. 2, a new exhibition at the Fondation Pierre Arnaud at 1 Route de Crans brings together a collection of artists with works on the theme Artists for Freedom: The Berlin Wall.
