With the advent of Basic Economy seating on many American Airlines flights, travelers may find themselves scouring terms and conditions in order to differentiate policies and figure out what is, and isn’t, included in their airfare.
When American Airlines launched its basic-economy fares, it essentially took away previous inclusions and instead began charging extra for things like carry-on bags, bumping passengers into the “regular economy” level of seats. When the airline learned this extra fee wasn’t changing much in its pricing model, American decided to start experimenting with removing yet another previous inclusion — the ability to select your seat at the time of booking for no extra fee.
The risk with implementing this new fee is some passengers may not care about where they sit and therefore won’t pay extra to secure a seat. But for those who do want to book their seat in advance, they will now have the opportunity to do so up to seven days in advance of their flight, rather than waiting for the 48-hour pre-flight window.

Jun 29, 2022Madeira Food on Foot Review
The best food tours go beyond reliving a newly arrived traveler of having to figure out which restaurant or bar to hit first. They also provide context in explaining how a destination’s crops and cuisine tie in with a place’s historical events and different populations. During a vacation in Iceland, 20-year veteran tour guide and proud Madeira native Jaqueline Freitas was reminded of this when she put herself in the hands of a savvy Reykjavik guide leading a street food tour.

Jun 22, 2022Savoy Palace Hotel Review
Savoy Signature Hotel Group continues to generate a buzz in international hospitality about the way its diverse portfolio shapes Madeira’s future as a destination; the brand keeps existing fans (particularly the traditional group of older British and German visitors) interested while drawing younger, more active travelers beyond the confines of Europe. The Savoy Palace, opened in 2019, took on the “legacy” mantle of a predecessor (the former Savoy Hotel) that stood on the same site, and then reopened with a lot of enthusiasm after the height of the pandemic passed.
