For Holiday Lights

Head to The Arboretum for a dazzling experience of light, art and music. The family-friendly event runs through Jan. 8. The Los Angeles Zoo features an Animals Aglow immersive experience with lantern sculptures of animals among illuminated flowers, trees and other landscapes. Animals Aglow is open through Jan. 22. Descanso Gardens hosts Enchanted Forest of Light through Jan. 8. This interactive nighttime experience features a one-mile walk through light displays.

For Holiday Traditions

Las Posadas at Olvera Street is an annual event where local families and merchants reenact the nine-night journey Mary and Joseph took to Bethlehem, complete with traditional music and colorful costumes. The nine-night festival takes place Dec. 16–24. Celebrate the holidays at Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood with its Holidays Made Here guided tour. For the Family

Head to Universal Studios Hollywood for festive fun. Celebrate Christmas in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, take part in the Who-tacular Grinchmas celebration and stroll among the Christmas decorations, including a 40-foot Christmas tree available Nov. 26–Jan. 2. Show off your ice-skating skills at Pershing Square holiday ice-skating rink, open Nov. 23–Jan. 1. Throughout the month of December, The Music Center hosts holiday performances at its four iconic venues: the Ahmanson Theatre, Dorothy Chandler Pavilion, Mark Taper Forum and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
