Cathay Pacific Introduces Dragonair As New Cathay Dragon

Feb 11, 2016
Daily

In a rebranding effort, Cathay Pacific announced its sister airline, Dragonair, will now be known as Cathay Dragon, though the two will continue to operate as separate airlines. Cathay Pacific hopes the rebranding will bring more recognition to Cathay Dragon, associating the airline with Cathay Pacific’s global appeal, as well as bring attention to the multitude of connections available in Mainland China.

Since Cathay Pacific took over Dragonair in 2006, the two airlines increased their combined total number of passengers from 22 million to 34 million as of 2015.

“We can assure our customers that Cathay Dragon will continue to provide the same high level of products and services that made us a four-time winner of the World’s Best Regional Airlines award. We will have the same dedicated team continuing to offer their friendly and caring service style. We will also continue to build on our experience and understanding of what our passengers like and treasure, such as the specialty Chinese and Asian dishes as well as popular local Hong Kong snacks,” said Algernon Yau, chief executive officer, Cathay Dragon.

While the brand promises to retain the aspects of Dragonair passengers love most, the new Cathay Dragon will be unveiling a new logo and livery that more closely aligns with that of Cathay Pacific.
