Cathay Pacific, which started using Airbus A350 aircraft on Australia-bound flights just a few months ago, rolled out the planes on its routes to Brisbane (BNE) and Perth (PER).
The equipment change took place last month on Cathay’s daily Brisbane flights. The switch will be instituted on the Perth route starting in October. And there will soon be a second A350 on the airline’s Melbourne (MEL) service.
“We’ve been flying into Perth since 1970 and we’re thrilled to be introducing our newest aircraft on our direct services to and from Hong Kong,” said Nelson Chin, general manager Southwest Pacific, Cathay Pacific. “It not only means a bigger aircraft, it also offers more comfortable cabins and more seats using our very latest designs.”
The airline’s A350s are configured in a three-tier system, with 38 business, 28 premium-economy and 214 economy seats. The bump up to an A350 means there will be around 406 new seats on the Perth route each week.
Cathay, based in Hong Kong, is rolling out other changes, too. The company will be introducing new destinations, increasing frequencies on its most popular routes and beginning to use more fuel-efficient planes in the near future.
