Cathay Pacific released plans to roll out a new dining concept for its long-haul business-class passengers. The new program overhauls the meals served and the way they are offered.

The new program will allow passengers to have greater flexibility in choosing the number of courses served. Passengers will be served plated meals from an a la carte menu while given the option to choose from three appetizer courses and up to six main courses. They can also opt for fewer courses, including smaller “supper plates.”

The food itself will change, with lighter and healthier options. The airline hasn’t yet released sample menus, but hinted at options like roast lamb rack with mint sauce, rice and lobster soup, noodle dishes and char siu barbecued pork.

Also eliminating its breakfast offering, the airline will add a new room service-style concept. Passengers will be given breakfast cards on which they can pick a meal choice, including a full meal or express breakfast of pastries and coffee. The system allows cabin crew to serve food closer to landing, giving passengers more time to sleep.

The new system is expected to begin in July on select routes, with a full rollout completed over the next 12 months.
