In an effort to expand the cruising market, Carnival Corp. developed a digital streaming channel with its own digital series available on streaming platforms including Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV and Roku.
Shows include existing productions like Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin, Vacation Creation and Good Spirits, which air on networks including ABC, The CW and NBC.
Carnival also created two new digital series called GO and Local Eyes. The first follows artist Trek Thunder Kelley on his travels, and the latter follows host Anji Corley while he interacts with residents of different destinations.
The brand wants to raise awareness of cruising as a great vacation through these channels.
Not only is this a first for cruising, but it’s a first in the travel industry as a means for advertising, sales and marketing strategy.
In addition to the digital series, Carnival unveiled two mobile gaming apps available through iTunes and Google Play. PlayOcean Everywhere and PlayOcean Casino lets users play casino games for free on land and for a fee when on a Carnival ship.
