Carlson Rezidor worked alongside EarthCheck for seven years to reduce their environmental footprint by 23 per cent. As a result, eight of the group’s Asia Pacific properties acquired EarthCheck gold certification and 18 of the group’s Asia Pacific properties have acquired EarthCheck silver certification.

In order to receive certification, all 26 properties continuously reported their sustainability practices to EarthCheck and underwent rigorous audits to verify their actions. Properties were examined on their sustainable development policy, waste management, paper usage, chemical usage and social responsibility initiatives, among others. After meeting set standards for one year, properties are awarded silver certification; after meeting standards for five years, they are awarded gold certification.

With their combined efforts, the Carlson Rezidor properties involved were able to save 611 million megajoules of energy (the annual equivalent of more than 25,000 four-person households) and 917 million litres of water (367 Olympic swimming pools).

Properties receiving gold certification include Radisson on Flagstaff Gardens Melbourne; Radisson Blu Plaza Sydney; Radison Blu Plaza Xing Guo; Radisson Blu Hotel Shanghai New World; Radisson Blu Hotel Pudong Century Park; Radisson Hotel Shanghai Hong Quan; Radisson Hotel Narita; and the regional Asia Pacific office of Carlson Rezidor.

Properties receiving silver certification include Radisson Hotel Brunei Darussalam; Radisson Blu Hotel Cebu; Radisson Blu Hotel Liuzhou; Park Plaza Beijing Science Park; Radisson Blu Plaza Chongqing; Radisson Resort Fiji Denarau Island; Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden; Radisson Hotel Shimla; Radisson Blu Resort Temple Bay,; Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi; Radisson Blu Nagpur; Radisson Blu Hotel Ranchi; Radisson Blu Hotel New Delhi Paschim Vihar; Radisson Blu Agra Taj East Gate; Radisson Blu Hotel MBD; Radisson Blu MBD Hotel Noida; Park Plaza Noida; and Radisson Hotel Kathmandu.
