One afternoon during my stay at NH Collection Prague Carlo IV, I indulged in a Czech aromatherapy massage at the on-site Carlo IV Wellness & Spa. The spa lies in the subterranean vault of the hotel and there are three treatment rooms.
Guests may choose from a full selection of body and face treatments. Open daily, the spa facilities also feature a fitness center, 65-foot-long heated pool with massage beds, lounge chairs, whirlpool, sauna and steam room.
After a busy day, I looked forward to a relaxing massage. The elevator on my floor brought me directly to the spa level. I arrived shortly before my appointment time, checked in, filled out the requisite forms and waited for my therapist.
My therapist walked me down the hallway to the treatment room. There was a glass of water waiting for me on a small table, next to a comfortable chair. She briefly went over my forms and asked if there were any areas I wanted her to focus on during the massage. After a long day of travel the day before, my shoulders and upper back felt tense, so I asked her to focus on those areas. She stepped out of the room to allow me time to get situated on the massage table.
My therapist utilized linden essential oil during the massage to promote relaxation. The fragrance boasted sweet, citrus notes and I felt the stress of travel fade away as she began the massage. She applied medium pressure, as I requested, and checked to ensure the pressure was right. She focused on my shoulders and upper back as I requested, while still paying attention to my lower back, arms and legs. She ended the massage with a light scalp massage, putting me further into a relaxed state. I left the 60-minute massage feeling relaxed and ready to take on the rest of my trip.

Sep 17, 2026High-Spirited Hong Kong: The Dynamic Hub Embraces Its Maritime History and Culture
It was known as the “Kai Tak heart attack” — the thrilling, terrifying final approach into Hong Kong’s Kai Tak Airport. Airliners were required to bank sharply at the last moment, dodging hills and apartment blocks to line up with a runway jutting out into Kowloon Bay. The airport is long gone, but international visitors are arriving at Kai Tak again, albeit more sedately. Their cruise ships dock smoothly at Kai Tak Cruise Terminal, a modern gateway designed by Sir Norman Foster.
