Hilton announced an agreement with Growthpoint Properties to open a new Canopy by Hilton property in Cape Town. The new 150-guestroom Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof is expected to open in 2021 as the first Canopy by Hilton property in Africa.
The brand launched in 2014 with a focus on bringing locally inspired accommodations and immersive experiences to travelers that wanted to enjoy a more neighborhood feel to their stay. Canopy by Hilton now boasts more than 35 properties in the works.
Location is key with the Canopy brand, as the new Cape Town property will be located in the city’s historical center, Company’s Gardens. The new hotel will be transformed from the century-old Longkloof Studios, with past lives as a United Tobacco Company and Cape Town’s Women’s Institute.
The new space plans to be one with the local community in design and offerings, and not take away or distract from the neighborhood. The future Canopy by Hilton Cape Town Longkloof will reside on Park Road and Kloof Street.
