British Airway’s new Aberdeen (ABZ) lounge is open after the previous lounge closed last summer. The opening is part of a redevelopment effort at the airport. The airline says the lounge is the second to open under its new design concept. Another lounge under the new design opened in Rome’s Fiumicino Airport.

The new lounge spreads across 380 square meters and has various zones for quick access to amenities like food and bathrooms, and zones for longer stays with seating overlooking the runway.

Like the Rome lounge, the Aberdeen space has a large granite-topped bar at its center. It’s decorated with local artwork from the airline’s collection, including “The Long Winding Shores” by Maddie Rose Hills inspired by Kinlochewe in the Scottish Highlands.

Sarah Klatt-Walsh, head of product, British Airways, said, “We are committed to investing in our lounges as part of our £4.5bn investment programme and are delighted to be opening the next one in the series in Aberdeen. Our new design concept has been created to make better use of the space in our lounges, while still making it feel contemporary and luxurious. We have focused on technology, offering complimentary WiFi and ensuring there is plenty of access to USB and power points, enabling customers to work, surf online and charge personal devices.
