Now a landmark luxury Boston address, The Liberty Hotel started out as the Charles Street Jail, complete with soaring, 90-foot rotunda and a cupola dating to 1851. Catwalks connect the lobby, reception area, ballroom, meeting rooms, restaurant, bar and select guestrooms. A number of historic features were carefully preserved, including the historic granite façade, dramatic oversized windows and the remains of original jail cells in the space now occupied by the lobby.

A new, 16-story tower adjacent to the original structure houses most of the 300 guestrooms. Ten suites offer views of the Charles River, while contemporary décor with a sophisticated take on American Colonial design define rooms and public areas. Choices for dining and drinks include CLINK, Alibi, Catwalk and chef Lydia Shire’s Italian menu at Scampo. Extensive meeting space includes a high-tech ballroom and 6,000 square feet of meeting rooms with natural light. The river and Esplanade are a short walk away, along with shopping, entertainment and opportunities for outdoor recreation.
