Cathay Pacific Airways will commence a new four-times-weekly non-stop service from Boston Logan International Airport to Hong Kong (HKG) on May 1, 2015.
Subject to government approval, the new service will link New England and Hong Kong directly for the first time, and marks Cathay Pacific’s sixth gateway in the United States, and eighth in North America. The airline, named World’s Best Airline in the 2014 annual Skytrax World Airline Awards, currently serves Chicago (ORD), Los Angeles, New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), San Francisco (SF0), Toronto (YYZ) and Vancouver (YVR).
“The importance of the only non-stop Boston–Hong Kong service goes beyond just linking Boston with this key Asian business and tourism World City,” said Tom Owen, senior vice president Americas, Cathay Pacific. “We are also opening up the greater New England region to connect with numerous Asian cities, including over 22 destinations in Mainland China, as well as key economic and tourism hubs throughout Southeast Asia, such as Singapore, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Bali, and Hanoi. This new service means that flying times from Boston will now be significantly reduced to this region.”
A Boeing 777-300ER will service the new route. The aircraft features Cathay Pacific’s newly refreshed first class; awarding-winning business class; the newest cabin class, premium economy; and the new long-haul economy class.
