It seems most news lately concerning airplane seat size is focused on how small and tight the spaces are for anyone seated behind the luxury classes. Bombardier, the Canadian aircraft manufacturer, is planning to buck that trend. The airline announced it will design a new plane with wider seats to better accommodate passengers’ requests for more space. The Bombardier CS100 plane, which debuted at the Farnborough International Airshow in England last month, includes middle seats that are 19 inches wide. That’s two inches wider than most standard economy seats being used today. The new Bombardier planes will also feature larger overhead bins and the largest windows found on single aisle planes in use today. The first order of these revamped CS100 planes were delivered to Swiss International Air Lines in June; they marked their inaugural commercial flights on July 15. Delta Air Lines also recently purchased several Bombardier planes. The company placed an order for 75 CS100 aircrafts with the option to buy another 50; the deal is worth $7.4 billion.
