To reduce waste and increase overall sustainability, the Blue Waters Resort and Spa on Antigua is introducing new initiatives. As more hotels look toward sustainability to attract eco-conscious travelers, the new facilities and amenities on offer from the resort fit the bill.

A combination of arrival amenities and new property-wide facilities work to reduce the resort’s overall plastic use. When guests arrive, they are greeted with a BPA-free water bottle, which will come in handy with water refilling stations all over the property. When guests leave, they are encouraged to bring the water bottle and continue practicing plastic-reduction techniques at home.

The resort focuses on a number of other sustainability initiatives as well, including the composting of seaweed, maintaining on-site produce gardens and water treatment facilities, keeping a heavy focus on recycling and more.

The resort also eliminated all motorized water sports and uses solar power to light walkways and gardens around the property.

“We have a responsibility to protect the environment our guests and staff cherish, and we are delighted to be able to positively adopt innovative ways we can all do this,” said Gary Randall, managing director, Blue Waters.
