This winter has already proved a brutal one for much of the country, with the Northeast taking the biggest hit. With weeks of winter still to go, it’s likely we haven’t seen the worst weather yet. Here are some numbers to keep in mind this winter:

• AAA Mid-Atlantic set a record for calls received on Feb. 16. The service received 12,078 calls, 47 percent of which were battery-related. AAA Mid-Atlantic covers Virginia; Maryland; Washington, D.C.; Delaware; Pennsylvania; and New Jersey.
• So far this winter, the city of Boston spent more than $30 million on snow removal.
• On Feb. 17, 100 out of 115 school districts in North Carolina were closed due to winter weather conditions.
• On the morning of Feb. 17, more than 200,000 people across Georgia, Arkansas and the Carolinas were without power.
• About 5,900 flights were canceled Feb. 15–17.
• Now through the weekend, 115 million people across parts of 27 states will experience low wind chills and temperatures 25–45 degrees below normal for this time of year.
• On the other side of the country, temperatures are up. The West Coast is experiencing a record warm winter. In Salt Lake City, the temperature is 16.4 degrees above average for February.
