Baseball is officially back in the city of Philadelphia, and fans couldn’t be more excited about it. Yesterday’s shut-out victory against the Mets marks eight wins in a row for the ball club and puts them 1.5 games above the Mets for first place in the division. The game yesterday was also the city of Philadelphia’s most packed sporting event since before the pandemic started last March. It was clear there was true electricity in the air at the ballpark yesterday; I wish I was there instead of watching from the couch.

The next 1.5 months of Phillies baseball is going to be so exciting for fans to watch, especially because the Phillies have not been in contention for a play-off spot until the end of the season or even this late in the season since 2011. It is going to be a wild three-legged race for this division with the Phillies, Mets and Braves.

The excitement doesn’t end there because, since the beginning of July, the Phillies have been one of the best teams in all of baseball. The bats have come alive this “hittin’ season,” as former Phillies manager Charlie Manuel would call the hot summer months. It is also going to be fun to watch Bryce Harper — nobody on this planet is swinging a better bat at the moment — go for the league’s MVP award and pitcher Zack Wheeler (who yesterday had one of the most dominant starts by a Phillies pitcher since the late Roy Halladay) go for the Cy Young award, as many people think he is the frontrunner. I can’t wait to keep watching and see how it pans out; as always, go Phils!

One of Hawai’i’s Most Popular (and Controversial) Attractions Being Demolished

If you haven’t actually climbed them, you’ve seen beautiful photos of them at one time or another: Hawai’i’s Stairway to Heaven, located on Oahu. The 3,922-step hike ascends Koolau Mountain Range and has been illegal to hike since 1987. But this has not stopped travelers and locals from doing so, even with a steep fine of $1,000 for trespassing.
