To kick off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, I attended a luncheon at the invite of Alison Metcalfe, executive vice president head of North America & Australia, at Tourism Ireland in Washington, D.C., last week. Sitting with me was Alice Mansergh, CEO, and to my right, Bill Byrne, senior vice president, Americas, Aer Lingus. Not bragging, but that was an Irish powerhouse!
The speakers were the Taoiseach [Prime Minister] Micheál Martin, introduced by your ambassador, Geraldine Byrne Nason. Taoiseach was fresh from a call to the Oval Office, which was quite successful.
To celebrate today, we will have ham and cabbage (not corned beef) and watch The Quiet Man for some quiet at home as we plan our trips this summer to Youghal for the McPadden (neighbors gone back to their homeland) nuptials and before for a golf trip starting at Royal County Down and ending at the Island.
