As we all know, the NBA ended its 2019–2020 season in Orlando, Florida, playing in what they called “the bubble.” Taking as many precautions as possible, this 2020–2021 season kicked off with each of the 30 teams back on its home court, excluding the Toronto Raptors, who will play out its season in Tampa, Florida, as travel restrictions suggest they remain in the United States.
In most states, fans are not permitted to attend in-person games, including my favorite team, the Philadelphia 76ers. However, I have the great opportunity to attend these games as a member of the entertainment team. It has been a pleasure, thus far, to witness the efforts of the NBA to protect players, staff and employees, all the way down to security and tech, from COVID. From safety zones to PPE distribution to the continuous efforts to maintain “the show” and the enjoyment and excitement of it all, the NBA exceeded expectations.
With hopes to be industry leaders, the Philadelphia 76ers pave the way in this new normal to continue to entertain and include fans across the country — and I am grateful to be part of it. Go Sixers!
