This past weekend, while perusing menus from the local Chinese and pizza restaurants, I came across an old favorite — Shogun. Shogun is a Japanese steakhouse and sushi restaurant with the option of hibachi, located on Street Road. For me and many others in the area, Shogun is well-known as the best place to get sushi. Its sushi is always fresh and made-to-order. You can either order takeout or dine in. I enjoy eating at the restaurant because the dimmed lights, Japanese decorations and the exciting hibachi make for a great atmosphere.
This weekend I ordered takeout with a friend: two avocado rolls, one shrimp and avocado roll, two shrimp tempura rolls, steamed dumplings and fried dumplings. All for less than $25. The food was divine as always. I’m always wary of ordering an avocado roll because I eat avocado so much it is a noticeable difference when the avocado is not fresh or ripe, but somehow, every time, Shogun gets it right.
Shogun is a great place to go to for groups of people who want to enjoy hibachi or a couple of friends looking to have a tasty lunch without breaking the bank. Another great reason to visit this restaurant is it is BYOB. Whenever I go with friends, I grab a bottle of wine to enhance my experience. Shogun is an underappreciated restaurant with a superior menu, friendly staff and a plethora of fresh avocados.
