As summer and warmer weather starts to roll in, I am starting to build my summer reading list. I typically read from my Kindle, but, in summer, I prefer to read an actual book, especially on the beach or by the pool. I spend a lot of time by the pool, so I tend to do a lot of reading during the summer season. While I typically tend to read psychological thrillers, I have a lot of romance novels on my summer list.
To start, I am currently in the middle of a Freida McFadden book, Want to Know a Secret? This is a psychological thriller started during a recent trip to Florida (come back to hear about the trip in my next blog). I only got so far, but it reeled me in, so I need to finish before I officially start my summer reading.
One of my favorite podcasters, Brooke Averick, just released a book called Phoebe Berman’s Gonna Lose It. She’s been talking about it on the podcast for over a year now, so the fact it’s finally out is exciting. The main character is a woman around the same age as me, struggling in her dating life, so it can be relatable for girls like me. I’m really looking forward to reading it.
Next up is a series called Off Campus. These books have been around for a while and gained popularity on BookTok, also known as the book-reading side of TikTok, but I never gave it a thought because it’s not my typical genre. But that all changed and I can’t wait to read the entire series. I think there are five. There are more in the Off Campus universe, but right now I am just going to focus on the first five. Anyway, my sudden shift in interest is all thanks to Prime Video releasing a TV show of the first book. I have been obsessed, and I am not proud to admit I am already on my third rewatch (the show came out two weeks ago). The cast is already back filming Season Two, but I can’t wait that long. I need to know what happens in all the characters’ storylines.
I feel like the Off Campus books might take me a bit to get through, so that’s it for my summer reading list for now!
