Last week, business brought me to Miami from Wednesday through Friday. Traveling with GT’s advertising manager Olivia Falcione, we decided to take advantage of our schedule (a 4 p.m. Friday meeting in Boca Raton meant we couldn’t easily depart until late Friday or early Saturday) and stay one weekend day in the city. On Saturday morning, we woke early and took advantage of the nice weather with a long walk, first down Collins from 4^th to 20^th, and then along the path by the beach on Ocean Drive. A delicious brunch at The Local House (I recommend the crab cake benedict!) was followed by a few hours laying by the pool of Sense Beach House, a cute boutique hotel on Ocean Drive, reminiscent of your own private home. That evening, we watched American Pharoah win the Triple Crown from the hip bar at The National Hotel, before winding down at dinner at The Restaurant and Terrace at Tides South Beach Hotel. It was nice to sit outside, after the sun had set and the temperature dropped, watching people getting ready to hit the clubs. Our early-morning departure at 4:45 a.m. precluded us from a very late night, but we did enjoy the DJ-spun tunes coming from the club next door to the restaurant. All in all, a quick bit of free time in South Beach, but just enough to get a taste for the area, and enjoy some downtime. — Kim Krol, managing editor
