I am a frequent visitor to Northwestern‘s stadiums for softball and football. Last weekend, despite no games there, I still had a great time there.

Held on Saturday afternoon, the Fall Festival featured seasonal activities and festive fun for all ages. A big bounce house attracted many of the youngsters. Children and adults played bags on the oversized setup. Everyone enjoyed the cute animals for petting. Halloween-themed inflatables decorated the area. Several businesses had tables loaded with candy, cookies and other treats for trick-or-treaters big and small. My favorite was the cookie from Tag’s Bakery. Other delicious food options were available from Willie’s special menu and Central Street Cafe.

Despite an occasion misting and crisp but damp weather, there was a large crowd. Although there were many kids, plenty of adults came to share in the fun. It was also a rare chance to watch a Wildcats football game on a big screen at the stadium. I think they could draw a big crowd by showing all away games there.

An animated short movie was shown on the big screen, followed by the Northwestern Wildcats football game. Unfortunately, the Wildcats lost to Oregon, which ended the day on a bit of a downer.
It was a fun way to spend Halloween afternoon. I hope this becomes an annual event.

Nov 6, 2026Nature and Nordic Culture Ensure a Perfect Pace for Exploring Stockholm
Crowned the “Capital of Scandinavia,” Stockholm stands at the epicenter of modern Nordic movements that — much like their Viking forebears — have swept across the globe. From art to design to cuisine, the Swedish city entices business and leisure travelers alike. Also fitting for its Viking history: the capital’s waterfront positioning, situated across 14 islands where Lake Mälaren meets the Baltic Sea. For a country that infamously sees little sunshine in the winter months, outdoor pursuits remain popular year-round, from hiking to sailing to ice-skating.
